Alayna Caldwell
Originally from a small town in northern Utah in the mountains near Park City, I recently moved south for the warm temperatures and an overall break from the snow. I'm happy to report that my family and I are enjoying life in St George even more than I thought we would.
While I'm new to the area, I'm not new to the field of interior design. I have a bachelor's degree in design from Utah State and well over a decade of experience in the industry with both new construction and remodels. I took a break from design when my children were small, spending my spare time planning elaborate birthday parties, working on house projects (including a complete DIY renovation on one of our houses), and even opening my own Etsy business for a few years. As the kids got older and I had more time on my hands, I found myself being drawn back to the world of interior design and have spent the last few years working on all kinds of projects, large and small. I am happiest with plans on the calendar and a project to work on, and interior design provides both of those things and more.
I have always had a love for houses. I don't know how early the fascination began, but I do remember my mom buying me one of those stencils (you know the ones with circles for tables, rectangles for sofas, and weirdly shaped blobs for chairs) when I was in 4th or 5th grade and spending hours and hours drawing floor plans and furniture arrangements on giant pieces of paper. I enjoy anything creative - singing, dancing, crafting, photography - while also having a deep-seated love and appreciation for organization and efficiency. Both sides of my personality influence my design style which leans toward traditional with touches of the sleekness and clean lines of more contemporary design influences. I enjoy getting to know my clients and I believe that I have done my job well when the clients' home feels like "them," but elevated. I take joy in the process of making each of the myriad selections and decisions that go into a project, and I want the client to enjoy the experience as well.
Each house and each client is different and unique and it's a pleasure to be part of the process of turning plans and dreams into functional, beautiful reality.
